Privacy Policy

Dearsum is built not to collect personal data. Here’s what the app and this website do — and don’t do.

The app

  • We collect no personal data. Names, amounts, notes, dates and passwords are stored only on your phone and never sent to us. There are no servers, sign-ins or accounts.
  • No ads, analytics or crash reporting. We don’t collect usage data or device identifiers, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
  • Only store payments connect online. Apple App Store and Google Play handle Pro purchases and restores. The app checks product prices, transactions and entitlements on your device and never sends them to us. We never receive your payment details.
  • Reminders are scheduled on your phone. No push server or push token. Reminder text never includes names, amounts or relationships.
  • Face ID and fingerprints are checked by your phone. The app only gets a yes or no; it never receives or stores biometric data.
  • The second ledger is encrypted. It opens only with the second password or its recovery code. We can’t open it either.

Backups and sharing (only when you choose)

  • If device backup (iCloud Backup or Google backup) is on, app data is included in that backup. It’s stored in your Apple or Google account under their privacy policies. The second ledger goes in still locked.
  • Exporting a backup file creates a file locked with a backup password you choose, and sends it where you pick (Files, email and so on).
  • The year-end card is an image without names, sent through the share sheet to wherever you choose.

Permissions

  • Face ID (optional): only to open the everyday ledger faster.
  • Notifications (optional): asked when you turn on date reminders.
  • Add to Photos (optional): asked only when you save the year-end card. The app never reads your photos.
  • No camera, microphone, location or contacts access.

Deleting your data

  • Tap “Start over” in the app or delete the app, and everything on your phone is erased. We hold no data about you, so there’s nothing to request.
  • Device backups and exported backup files live in your own account and devices — delete them there if you need to.

This website (dearsum.com)

  • No analytics, ads or cookies. No third-party fonts or scripts.
  • Light or dark mode follows your device; nothing is stored in your browser.
  • Our host, Cloudflare, may briefly process connection logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operations. We don’t use them to identify visitors.
  • If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and delete them within a year after we’re done.

Changes

  • If this policy changes, we’ll post the update and its effective date on this page.
