I forgot my main password.
On the lock screen, tap “Forgot password” → “Reset the main password,” then confirm with Face ID or your phone’s passcode to set a new one. Your entries stay as they are.
I forgot my second password.
On the lock screen, tap “Forgot password” → “Open with a recovery code” and enter the 20-character code you got when you created the second password. Dearsum has no servers, so we can’t recover it for you. If the recovery code is lost too, the only option left is “Start over,” which erases everything.
How do I create a second password?
During setup, or later in Settings → “Create a second password.” The second ledger never opens with Face ID — you type the password. The lock screen has a single field and opens whichever ledger matches what you type.
Will my entries move to a new phone?
Between the same kind of phone, set up the new one from your iCloud or Google backup and everything comes along. Between iPhone and Android, export a file in Settings → “Backup file” and import it on the new phone. Both ledgers go into the file, still locked.
What happens if I delete the app?
Everything on that phone is erased. After reinstalling, you can restore from a device backup or a backup file if you have one.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Pay once and keep it. After launch, open Settings → Dearsum Pro to buy or restore. Use the same Apple or Google store account you purchased with. Purchases cannot be restored across iPhone and Android stores. Request refunds from the store where you purchased.
Do reminders show names or amounts?
No. Lock-screen reminders say something like “Something to check today.” The details are only inside the app.
Can I change the currency or the kinds of dates?
You choose the ledger currency during setup (it starts from your phone’s region). So that amounts you’ve logged never turn into another currency, the currency can’t be changed once you start logging. The regional defaults for relationships and dates can be changed in Settings at any time.
I see “Your saved data couldn’t be opened” or “Update required.”
This appears when the phone’s storage couldn’t be read, or when the data was saved by a newer version of Dearsum. The screen never deletes or changes your entries. Update the app to the latest version, then tap “Try again.” “Start over” erases everything, so use it only as a last resort.
Why can’t I take screenshots on Android?
To keep your ledger out of the recent-apps screen, Dearsum blocks screenshots and screen recording on Android. You can still save your year-end card from Report → “Make a year-end card” → “Share as image.”
